Today, I had the opportunity to scribble out a part of my afternoon and head over to Reformed Skin downtown Columbia, South Carolina. Here is my take away experience and mantra for you mama’s out there:
As a mom of three children under five years old, it is few and far in between that I find or make the time to treat myself. Mom confession — I sometimes go 2-3 days between showers, laundry for 5 piles up to the ceilings (or my toddler throws the folded laundry in the air while I attempt to tackle it), and some days you’re just so tired of taking care of others that the thought and energy to put into yourself is put off. You’re touched out, out of patience, cleaning up behind everyone, forgetting appointments and school projects, and running not so fashionably late everywhere. Trust Me!!! I get it, mama.

For the last 3 years as a stay at home mom, it was hard as heck on me! I lost my independence, my identity, and well going out in public alone with 2 toddlers and an infant is WORK so the walls caved in on me. I had zero adult connections daily and now I find myself talking people’s ears off.. yep I’m officially that person people avoid convos with.. just kidding. At least I’m really funny so people stick around for the free ab workout (wait, now I’m a personal trainer too?! Not really.. but you’re welcome). It took me a while to adjust but I’m getting there with the support of family and my Columbia South Carolina Mommy Blogger Tribe. We meet up each month and it gets me to doll up a little and get out the house to mingle and become empowered by successful women! Find your tribe and love them hard ladies! If your circle isn’t clapping and rooting for you, as a part of self awareness and care, you deserve the same support you give to others in your life!
Reformed Skin:

Today I had a nice drive to Reformed Skin with no babies while the hubby took care of the kids today and jammed out to some adult music for once without screaming coming from the back, kicks to the back of my seat, or being surprisingly smacked with a sippy cup or toy that was thrown my way. It was liberating… weird, but mostly liberating. There’s another self care practice tip.. if you need to mama, get out and drive! Put on your empowerment music and remember who you are. When I got to the spa, I was put at ease from the moment I met Felicity. She is such a down to earth, gentle and personable soul.

Services:
I got a full body dry brush, microdermabrasion and deluxe facial today and it was absolutely amazing! The dry brush is exactly what it says. A dry brush is used to exfoliate your skin and get rid of dead skin cells, help circulation of blood flow and help with drainage of the lymphatic system. It felt so good! Then, she comes back through with an herbal cream to moisturize your skin and massages you from head to toe. You even get to take your dry brush home with you to use at home!! The microdermabrasion treatment was a painless process that takes away the first layer of your 25 layers of skin. This is wonderful for those who have sun damage or hormone related melasma like me… my face is glowing now! And the facial was so relaxing with cleansing, exfoliating, and a mask that is designed for your specific skin care needs.

There are so many ways you can practice self care, ladies. Emphasis on the self… the care and attention that you need to do for yourself! It helps you become better in all aspects of your life. If you call Reformed Skin and make your appointment be sure to mention me. You can receive 15% off for taking the time to pamper yourself! You deserve your tender, loving care too! And, a spa day with Felicity is a great start. How will you practice self care?
